DisposeRx’s Vice President of Scientific Affairs Receives Drug Store News Award

Ann Hamlin recognized for her commitment to care

SANFORD, NC – Nov. 21, 2019 – DisposeRx’s Vice President of Scientific Affairs Ann Hamlin, BS, MS, received the Commitment to Care Award last night as Drug Store News debuted its Top Women in Health, Wellness and Beauty Awards in Chicago.

The Commitment to Care Award honors women who have “an overall commitment to patient care,” as well as “a proven record of growth, success and influence in her profession or community.”

“Following a very successful 30-year career in the Drug Chemistry Section of the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory, Ann joined DisposeRx shortly after our founding,” said William Simpson, DisposeRx President. “Her extensive education and experience in analytical and forensic chemistry have been invaluable to us, but what truly sets Ann apart is her ability to connect with our prospects, customers and members of the community. Whether she is helping to educate middle and high school students, law enforcement officers or pharmacists about the risks of unused medications or providing demonstrations at non-profit events and tradeshows, Ann is able to communicate and relate to audiences of all types.”

Hamlin was recognized for her current role leading scientific development, training and education at DisposeRx, as well as her work with the State of North Carolina.

“I appreciate the recognition by Drug Store News and am humbled to be among a group of many distinguished and impressive women,” said Hamlin. “Professionally, I was fortunate to transition from a long, fulfilling career as a state employee into a leadership role at a new and entrepreneurial business such as DisposeRx. It is very rewarding to educate and help change pharmacists’ and patients’ behaviors by teaching them about the dangers of unused medications, especially opioids, and the proper methods for disposal.”

Hamlin obtained certification as a Drug Chemistry Diplomate by the American Board of Criminalistics in 2011 and is a current board member of the Triangle Chapter of the American Red Cross.
