What do non-profit prevention coalitions, physician and oral surgery practices, Tribal and Urban Indian Health Center pharmacies and private estates have in common?
These are among the many organizations and entities that have ordered from our online store DisposeRx Direct since it opened a few months ago. The e-commerce site was created to make it even easier for people to get packets to safely dispose of unused, unneeded or expired medications.
DisposeRx was first launched in 2018 with a go-to-market strategy focused on a business-to-business approach. Since then, our network has grown to more than 34,000 pharmacies, hospitals, health plans and many other stakeholders, including 430 Community Outreach partners.
We think it’s great that more people are getting educated about the importance of drug disposal and participating in events such as the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Days and our own National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day. However, maintaining your medicine cabinet daily can help prevent medications from getting into the wrong hands. Our online store makes it even easier and more convenient for people and organizations to get our disposal packets.
Products available include a 30-count box of DisposeRx packets, as well as a 100-count box and 1,200-count shipper.
How the packets work
Our at-home medication disposal packets are comprised of materials that are FDA-approved for oral medications and provide a simple, convenient and effective solution for the disposal of unused or expired medications. The active ingredient in the medication is chemically and physically sequestered in a polymer gel when water and the DisposeRx powder are added to a prescription vial and shaken. Patients can use the patented product with pills, tablets, capsules, liquids and powders and can then throw away the vial in the household trash.
